Local CDL Truck Driver

Description:

Operates commercial vehicle to transport various materials to and from company facilities and customer locations. Requires Class A or B commercial driver's license and DOT Examiner's Certificate (category 1). Cross-trained in the operation of ready-mixed concrete trucks, dump trucks, and tractor-trailers. Jobs are regional and are day based, except on rare occasions.

Representative list of duties and responsibilities:

  • Operates commercial vehicle to transport various materials in accordance with all company safety policies, local, state, and federal regulations. (e.g. FMCSA, OSHA, MSHA, DOT)
  • Before leaving the plant, checks all order ticket related documentation to ensure completeness, accuracy, delivery information, and customer identification.
  • Delivers materials to location, evaluates job site conditions, follows all safe operating procedures, including site specific regulations.
  • Following directions from the customer, maneuvers vehicle into unload position, all-the-while following all safety protocols.
  • Use the electronic tablet to complete daily truck inspections, delivery tickets, and other documentation.
  • Accurately completes daily driver time reports.
  • Collaborates with other drivers about directions, job site conditions, and other factors that could impact the timely delivery of product and safety of personnel and equipment.
  • Safely and securely handles COD funds, following directions for receipt and disposition.
  • Works closely with Dispatch for instructions and directions, immediately keeps dispatch informed of job status and any issues that could affect deliveries, including incidents, property damage, and injuries.
  • Maintains truck cab in clean condition, clearing trash and unnecessary objects from the cab, daily.
  • When done loading and unloading, performs cleaning actions to prevent the buildup of material on truck parts ensuring proper and safe operation.
  • Wears all personal protective equipment as required.
  • Follows seasonal instructions for start-up, operation, and shutdown of the vehicle and other equipment.
  • Performs basic vehicle maintenance such as adding oil/fluids, fueling, and other minor repairs.
  • As a company representative, effectively communicates and interacts with customers to ensure a positive delivery experience.
  • As a professional driver, effectively communicates with and displays a courteous attitude toward customers, fellow employees, the general public, and while in traffic and on all roadways.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. Employees are exposed to wet/humid/cold/hot conditions and moving mechanical parts. Noise level is usually moderate and intermittent. Physical requirements include climbing and descending steps/ladder using 3 points of contact, lifting (40-70 lbs), carrying, bending, push/pull, reaching, kneeling.
