Position Summary:

Operates multi-rear axle ready mixed concrete truck, transporting freshly mixed concrete from central batch plant to project site

Operates vehicle systems to alter, mix, and/or unload as required to maintain the integrity/viability of the ready-mix concrete product 

The following list is only a representation of the many duties and responsibilities of a ready mixed concrete truck driver.

  • Before leaving the batch plant, checks all order ticket related documentation to ensure completeness, accuracy, delivery information and customer identification 
  • Follows all company, local, state and federal policies/regulations regarding safety, environmental product handling and cleanup, DOT/FMCSA OSHA and MSHA  
  • Uses the electronic tablet to complete daily truck inspections, delivery tickets, and other documentation
  • Follows signals from the contractor, maneuvers vehicle into unloading position, all-the-while following all safety protocols to ensure the safety of all personnel and equipment. NEVER PLACES A TRUCK IN A POSITION OF POSSIBLE DAMAGE OR DANGER TO PERSONNEL
  • Accurately completes daily driver time reports
  • Collects delivery instructions from proper sources, verifying instructions and routes prior to leaving plant
  • Collaborates with other drivers about directions, job site conditions, and other factors that could impact the timely delivery of product and safety of personnel and equipment
  • Inspects load slump ensuring the product meets customer requirements
  • Wears all personal protective equipment as required
  • Immediately contacts batch supervisor with any questions about delivery instructions, job site issues, directions, and in case of an accident and/or injury
  • Safely and securely handles COD funds, following directions for receipt and disposition
  • Follows seasonal instructions for start-up, operation, and shut-down of the vehicle and other equipment
  • Performs basic vehicle maintenance such as adding oil/fluids, fueling, and other minor repairs
  • As a company representative, effectively communicates and interacts with customers to ensure a positive delivery experience, as a professional driver displays a courteous attitude toward others on all roadways at all times
  • Performs daily cleaning actions to prevent and minimize the buildup of material on truck parts, ensuring proper operation, and prevention of loose material that could disengage from the truck causing damage/injury.
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Physical Demands: 

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. Employees are exposed to wet/humid/cold/hot conditions and moving mechanical parts. 

The noise level is usually moderate and intermittent. Physical requirements include climbing and descending steps/ladder multiple times per day, lifting (40-70 lbs), carrying, bending, push/pull, reaching, and kneeling.

Works mainly outdoors in heat, cold, windy, dry conditions


  • Must be able to operate automatic  transmission and lear to drive a manual transmission
  • Available to work a schedule that varies daily, overtime, and partial Saturdays as needed
  • Must have a Class B (air brakes) or Class A CDL
  • Ability to make critical decisions based on job conditions that affect the safety of personnel and equipment
  • Positive customer service skills
  • Perform basic math, operate a computer tablet, read and write, speak English
  • Communicate effectively with others
  • successfully pass a pre-employment physical profile capacity test



  • Previous ready mixed concrete truck driving experience
  • Knowledge of working with concrete
  • Previous related experience in the construction field
